The forklift is a material handling equipment utilized to lift and move loads from one location to another. Every part of a forklift has a particular function. Different components can be used to move the load horizontally or vertically.
Mast
The parts utilized to lift and lower the load is known as the forklift mast. There are different kinds of masts utilized for lifting loads to different heights: duplex, triplex, quad and simplex.
Power Supply
There are four different ways you can power a forklift: gas, electric, diesel and propane. The battery is located within the cab under the seat. The propane tank is on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is under the back of the truck.
Cab
Positioned within the center of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The steering wheel, gas pedal, brake, lifting controls and tilting controls are all situated within the cab.
Frame
The truck frame carries all the biggest parts of the forklift, like the counterweights, that are situated at the back so as to prevent the truck from tipping when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the wheels, driveshaft and axles.
