Hazards of Type-G forklifts
The forklift is important for completing warehouse tasks. These extremely capable machines lift and transport loads of immense size from one location to another. Forklifts have lots of variations. The main variation is the way in which various units are fueled. "LP" lift trucks are the most popular type. They use liquid propane. Type "E" forklifts have large rechargeable batteries and operate on electricity. Type "D" forklifts use diesel and type "G" use gasoline. Though all lift trucks, similar to any piece of heavy equipment, could pose a danger, gasoline powered forklifts carry the most risks.
Fire
Forklifts labelled type G can present a fire hazard. Gas forklifts are not made with the same rigorous standards. Gas leaks are the biggest cause of fire due mostly to gas leaks and also escaped gas fumes. This could result from mishaps and from driving on extremely rough terrain or normal wear. These circumstances pose a danger and could result in fire. Hence, a typical Type G forklift must never be used in conditions where elevated fire risk is deemed unacceptable. For instance, these kinds of forklifts should not be utilized around explosives or dangerous chemicals.
Explosion
Gas lift trucks also pose a risk of explosion, as do diesel and liquid propane based lift trucks. A gasoline powered forklift can explode as a result of a serious mishap in circumstances where a gasoline leak and an ignition source are present. An explosion can take place when sparks are created in the collision and the sparks ignite the gasoline.
Fumes and Exhaust
Because of toxic fumes, the gas lift truck does pose a risk for inhalation, that could be deadly in higher concentrations. Fumes can result from the exhaust itself or from gasoline leaks. Hence, a Type G lift truck is not suggested for any environment which is poorly ventilated. The exhaust will present a serious danger in enclosed places. This kind of lift truck must be used with care when operated near individuals.
