Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage areas orderly and to store pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck could be utilized. The reach truck is available in quite a few types: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The simplest type is the stand-up. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This model consists of telescopic forks intended to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when another pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not only slide under the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This model is best in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
In nearly all warehouses, there are normally more than one type of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and can increase productivity while maximizing available storage space.
