In 1966, Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries. At that time, he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift which functioned on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" that was utilized to raise and lower the hoist. This device really impressed lots of customers and thus, the name was born.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into various new markets, because the need for platforms and work lifts grew. Over time, as the requirements for new equipment to meet many applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. For instance, Genie went into production with stick booms, telehandlers, articulated booms, light towers and man-lifts.
Due to the economic recession during the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to acquire a partner who had the same values. They partnered up with Terex Corporation. This company has a history obtaining equipment manufacturers all around the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
Because of the Genie name and its solid reputation in the workplace, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand as part of the Terex Aerial Work Platforms. This was only decided after the first few years following the sale. Therefore, all Genie machinery continue to be marketed under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their customers. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the quality and efficiency in addition to lessening wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on offering exceptional support. These are the very work disciplines which have made Genie a trusted brand over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality machinery.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC equipment are emission-free, quiet equipment capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the machine has to be driven significant distances, like for instance in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC machine along with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Telescopic booms provide greater horizontal reach, as opposed to any of the various aerial platforms. These machines are ideal for limited access areas or small areas in all types of environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to provide utmost productivity. These machines provide the drive speed and supreme traction you require to be able to travel around the job area and work site.
